Saturday 8th June saw us return to the Fleet for our Summer and Sea concert. It was a very relaxed and happy mix of music, and we were ably assisted by Dick Mallett on drums and one of our choir members, John Gribble plus our accompanist Barbara Tomlinson on accordions who joined forces to lead the choir and the audience’s renditions of some rollicking sea shanties.
The concert was very well received by an appreciative audience with the choir really enjoying having our new MD Ibby Mallett leading us in our first concert with her at the helm and Barbara playing accompanying us.
We held a raffle in aid of our local MS society, which together with the takings from the refreshments, provided by Rita Bali and her fellow Soroptimists raised a total of £502. The money will be used to support their Benefit Advice Service which helps people with MS navigate their way around the system.
Choir members and audience alike had a fantastic evening, now the choir are starting on a new repertoire for their next concert on November 16th at St John’s Church in central Peterborough.
