Margaret is standing down as Treasurer, she has done a brilliant job over the last four years and her legacy is a set of workable and easy to understand systems to ensure that the choir finances are run efficiently and easily.
She says ‘I have enjoyed the role of treasurer since taking it over in 2015 and now feel it is time for me to handover to someone else. I have found it a great way of getting everyone especially when welcoming new members. I am happy to settle the new treasurer in to the role and help with any problems once I have handed over. Thank you for all your support, Margaret’.
Our choir cannot function without a treasurer so please think carefully and consider if you would like to take on the role, Margaret will happily talk through things with you if you would like her to.
If you are interested in standing for the committee then please make sure you have a seconder and proposer and either let Claire know, email the details to the choir email (you can reply to the newsletter) or put your name and those of your proposer and seconder on a piece of paper in the suggestion box, names should be in by 21st January.
There are 12 places on the committee, 10 members are interested in standing again, if there are more proposals then a vote will be held to elect a committee.
The coach will leave at 11:30am from the public car park near the rowing course in Nene Park (PE3 6LN, off Thorpe Road). We will be dropped off as close to the theatre as possible and picked up from the same spot afterwards. The workshop starts at 2:00 so it should be possible to get something to eat beforehand or you may choose to take a packed lunch to eat on the coach, the workshop finishes at 5:30pm.
Tony passed on this request from Helen Chew, she is looking for additional singers to boost their choir. Helen says -‘ We usually sing to a packed church but our current choir is tiny and we need a bigger good choir. It’s a cracking service, very atmospheric. Singers would need to be able to attend rehearsals on 13th and 20th Dec, the service itself is on 23rd Dec and they would need to be fairly experienced as rehearsal time is limited.’
If you are interested in singing then please get in touch with Helen direct, her email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let her know what voice part you sing so she can make sure she has a balance of voices.
It will soon be time to think about the Summer Concert so that music can be ordered and ready to use in January!! As the concert is just after VE day the committee thought that we could celebrate the occasion by titling the concert ‘The Best of British’. This covers all genres of music from this and other eras and also celebrates British composers and iconic songs.
Please give a thought to this as we will be asking for your suggestions for pieces of music soon!
Please note that for one session only we will be rehearsing on 5th at St Oswald’s Church Hall as the Assembly Hall at KSCS is pre-booked.
