We have booked a 53 seater coach so there is still time to put your name down on the list, Tuesday is definitely the last day for this as the theatre needs to be booked! Final costings will be worked out and money owed will be collected at rehearsal on 25th June.
Christmas Music We Already Have (in no particular order!)
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
Little drummer boy/Peace on earth
All bells in paradise
Angels we have heard on high
O Holy night
Silent night/Stille nacht
Love came down at Christmas
Please think about what you would like to perform at the concert on Nov 30th, a working title to guide you is ‘Christmas past, present and future’ This spreads the choice over lots of music genres to include popular, classic, choral etc.
Any suggestions to go in the Suggestion Box. Robin will check to make sure these are suitable for us and the most popular choices will be voted on at the last meeting on 23rd July or by email if you can’t be there. This allows music to be bought over the August break so we can start rehearsing in September.
A message from Peterborough Homeless Helpers (via Fiona, Sops):
Peterborough Homeless Helpers would like to thank everyone who has kindly donated to us – clothes, rucksacks, toiletries and other items, food, storage space and time.
We support the homeless and those in need. Already this year we’ve served over 500 meals and more than 700 hot drinks. We’ve provided crisis care for two rough sleepers and assisted others with hospital, doctor and dental appointments. We’ve signposted people to official routes for obtaining help (PCC etc) and transported people to the Soup Kitchen for food they were otherwise too infirm to reach. Together we have successfully transitioned two long term rough sleepers off the streets, supported with job interviews and even helped rehome much-loved pets. One poor gentleman had fallen foul of a fraudster and came to us for help. Then there are the lucky few who are offered accommodation – they come to us for help and support too, as this is another huge challenge for some, albeit a more positive one.
We aren’t a charity, don’t have full time volunteers, paid staff or a premises to work from – we’re just a bunch of people who care passionately about helping those in desperate circumstances.
We work alongside and in partnership with organisations with the same goals. We don’t judge. We smile and welcome people – offering friendship and support. We remember they are all someone’s brother, sister, son or daughter.
We wanted to say thank you – because it’s all of you that make so much of it possible.
Next Tuesday’s rehearsal (29 Jan) will be at Brookside Methodist Church, 46 Gunthorpe Rd
Peterborough, PE4 7TQ
Rehearsal on 4 December will be from 7 pm to 9 pm at Ken Stimson Community School. Park in Tesco car park, Werrington.
PTNCC supports Peterborough Homeless Helpers, who make a real difference to the lives of the homeless and those in need by providing hot drinks, food, clean clothes, toiletries and a friendly face every Sunday. The homeless wear their clothes 24/7 until they have something clean to change into. Whether on the streets or temporarily in a hostel, their lives are so tough. It’s a dangerous and lonely existence. So please spread the word. There are three main areas for donations:
Canned food such as baked beans, fruit (cans with ring pulls please).
Bottled water (500ml size is ideal)
Snacks, crisps, biscuits
Toiletries – wet wipes, deodorant, shampoo, shower gels (part bottles welcome)
Clothes – clean, serviceable adult clothing – coats, jeans, jumpers, t-shirts, shoes & socks (mens and ladies)
Rucksacks, yoga mats, small tents, sleeping bags
Food and sundry items
To help us with provisions , for example: tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, cuppa soups, pasta, jars of pasta sauce, rice, tins of chopped tomatoes, tinned vegetables or fruit
