Hello and welcome to our website – hopefully you are reading because you would like to come and sing with us, or alternatively because you want to find out about fantastic music that is happening in Peterborough. Either way we hope to meet you soon!
Peterborough Take Note Community Choir began its life in 2013 when a group of people decided it was time to bring the experience of singing to everyone in our city.
This choir is for anyone and everyone. Accessibility is very important to us and we work hard to broaden our membership to reflect the breadth and diversity of the city of Peterborough. We do not have any exclusions other than you must be over 18 years of age. However young people aged 14 to 17 years may join the choir if they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
We do not audition but we will offer you a voice test if you are not sure which section of the choir would best suit your voice. We believe that singing should be fun. Having said that, we do expect members to work hard to produce a high standard of performance that we can all be proud of.
We have over sixty members and are happy to welcome more. Our performances range from small charity carol-singing performances to full scale concerts. Our music, chosen by our MD and choir members, reflects the diversity of the membership. In ten years, we have tackled songs from the musicals, traditional and classical choral music, folk tunes, Requiems by Verdi & Fauré, ballads and a contemporary Christmas piece never performed in England before. We have sung in Peterborough Cathedral on a number of occasions.
We have regular weekly rehearsals, one-off workshops and hold at least two concerts each year. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact our Members’ Secretary, Sheila, on 07907 166834 or contact us.
