Peterborough Take Note Community Choir celebrated their 10th anniversary by hosting a concert at The Fleet Community Centre, on Friday10th November in front of a large appreciative audience.
The choir was started 10 years ago for anyone in Peterborough who wanted to sing – no audition required. The choir currently has over 60 members.
Two founder members, Jan and Tony Forster, were present at the concert, along with James Day, who was the choir’s first Music Director.
Conducting Take Note was Fergus Black, the choir’s Music Director. Fergus was born in Scotland and studied music at St Andrew’s University and in the USA.
The Choir sang a very varied programme, including favourites from the past ten years, such as “Barbara Ann”, “It Don’t Mean a Thing”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” along with medley of Abba songs from the “Mamma Mia” movie.
Also included in the programme was Vivaldi’s “Gloria In Excelsis Deo” Wagner’s “Pilgrims Chorus” and Verdi’s “Coro Di Schiavi Ebrei”
At the piano was the choir’s accompanist, Ibby Mallett, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music. She also conducted the ladies of the choir who sang a beautiful arrangement of “Like a Singing Bird”.
After the concert, the audience joined the choir for a buffet and celebratory birthday cake.
