A native of northern Michigan, Adam Wills Begley is a MMus candidate in Choral Studies at the University of Cambridge, where he studies with Christopher Robinson and Tim Brown. Adam serves as Assistant Director of Music at the Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs and conducts the Chapel Choir of Downing College.
Prior to his studies at Cambridge, Adam earned a MM in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan, where he studied with Dr Jerry Blackstone. From 2014-2016, he was Director of Music at West Side United Methodist Church, Ann Arbor. An active ensemble singer and soloist, Adam was a member of the Grammy Award-winning University of Michigan Chamber Choir and is a current choral scholar at St Martin-in-the Fields.
Adam earned a BA in Music with distinction at Yale University, where he served as the undergraduate conductor of the Yale Glee Club and director of the vocal jazz group Redhot & Blue. Whilst a member of the Yale Whiffenpoofs, America’s oldest collegiate a cappella group, Adam led performances in over twenty-six countries and on five continents.
Active as an educator with musicians of all levels, Adam has served on the conducting faculties of the Detroit Children’s Choir and the Elm City Girls’ Choir. Recent musical theatre engagements include productions of Parade with the U-M Hillel Players and Sweeney Todd with the Yale Dramatic Association.
Adam’s conducting teachers include Jerry Blackstone, Jeffrey Douma, Simon Carrington, and Marguerite Brooks.
